We highly encourage carpooling or biking to the event. There will be thousands of participants, volunteers, and spectators on site for the race. Please plan for heavy traffic and allow ample time to check your gear and get into your corral.
Gear check is available to all registered participants.

After crossing the finish line (go you!), head over to the Post-Race Party to relive your favorite music from the Grateful Dead via live band, Old Shoe. Your first craft beer from Magic Hat is on us. Friends or family members are welcome collect your packet for you. Just send them with a copy of your confirmation email. You may switch your goodie bag size up until a month before the race on your RAM Racing account.
RAM Racing offers the option to have your packet mailed for 2015 Terrapin 5k. If you have already registered for the event, and would like to register for packet by mail, follow the instructions below:
1. Log into your RAM Racing account
2. Open the “Your Races” tab in the upper right corner of the screen
3. Click on the View tab next to the correct race
4. Select the “Packet Mailing” option and follow the prompts through the payment process to pay the $15.27 for shipping
The deadline for register for packet by mail is June 21st.
If you have not already registered for the race, you will have the option to add packet mailing during the registration process. Please, no P.O. Box addresses.
•Minimum pace: 15 minute mile
•Each aid station includes Gatorade, water, port-a-johns, and medical support
•Mile markers at each mile
•Start line staging begins at 6:00pm
•Medical Info: ALS units will be positioned at each aid station. In addition, course marshals and aid stations captains will be in communication with the medical teams at all times. Medical facilities will also be available at the finish line.
Terrapin 5k participants who run faster than an 11:30/mile will be assigned to a Qualifying Start Corral based on the following criteria:
• Your past performance in a RAM Racing event from 2012-2015 that is in our system. If you have this you will not be prompted for qualifying proof.
• Your proof of a qualifying result for a 5k or longer event run within 2 years of the race date that you submit.
Start corrals will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Runners who only provide expected pace times for start corral placements and do not wish to provide proof will be assigned to the open corrals behind the Qualifying Corrals. Participants with a qualifying time from a past RAM Racing event from 2012-2015 will be automatically placed in the appropriate corral. If you wish to change or improve your start position, you may submit proof of a qualifying time. See How to Update or Change Your Corral Assignment for additional information.
If you would like to update or change your start corral assignment, you can do so by submitting a qualifying time no later than 3 weeks prior to race day.
To submit a qualifying time:
1. log into your RAM Racing Account at http://ramracing.enmotive.com/
2. Open the “My Account” tab in the upper right corner of the screen
3. Click on the “View Registration” tab next to the correct upcoming race
4. Follow the prompts to attach proof
You will receive an email confirming acceptance or denial of submitted results no later than 2 weeks prior to race day.
Submitted results must be from a race that is a distance of 5k or longer, run within the last two years. The following forms of proof will be accepted:
• A screen shot of your individual race results. The race name and date must appear along with your results.
• An attachment in the form of a finisher’s certificate that contains your name, the race name/distance and finish time.
• An attached printout from an online race results page and ensure the race name and date appear on the page. Please circle or underline your name and time and give us an idea of where to look.
• A link to your individual race results. Please ensure your name and results are the ONLY ones appearing on the page.
Assignment to a start corral is not guaranteed. Runners must verify their corral placement in their RAM Racing account. Placement in a Qualified Corral can be found the week before the event in your account next to the event.
What do you mean by Race Pace?
Your race pace is how many minutes it takes you to run or walk one mile. Say it takes you ten minutes to run one mile. That means that your race pace is 10 minutes per mile.
How can I find out my Corral?
Once you’ve registered for the event, you can confirm your Start Corral assignment one week prior to that event on Your Races page found in your RAM Racing account. Your Start Corral will be listed next to your name, city, state, and age division.
What if I do not care about corrals?
No worries, if you do not care we will go off the time you entered when registering and place you in an Open Corral with other like paced runners.
What if I have proof but my friend does not and we want to run together?
If you want to run with a friend or family member who does not have qualifying proof we can put you both in the Open corrals. Just sign up with the same estimated race pace that is comfortable for everyone.
My race partner and I got placed in different corrals?
You can always line up with the person who is furthest back in the corrals on on race day.
Why do you have this corral system?
To ensure a smooth and safe race it is best if people run with like paced runners. It is no fun for a 6min/mile racer to try to dodge walkers and it is no fun for walkers to get knocked down by eager speedy runners. With properly assigned corrals everyone can have a safe and enjoyable event. No matter your speed we will have the chocolate goodies waiting at the end!
I just want to be in the same corral as my family/friends.
Make sure you all talk before registering and have everyone put in the same estimated race pace. Try to make it a bit unique, instead of putting in 10min/miles try 10:02. If not everyone can provide proof make sure you choose a time everyone is confortable with (12:03) and have everyone choose the Open corral option. If you do end up getting split up just remember you can always line up with the person furthest back.

After the race, all runners will receive free downloadable photos and video clips of themselves as they cross the finish line.

Terrapin 5k is an officially timed event using the ChronoTrack B-Tag disposable chip timing system, the industry leader in endurance events. The timing system provides each participant with an accurate time from the start to the finish line as well as on course splits. Individual timing tags are affixed to the back of each bib number. Leave the tags on the back of the bib number and wear the bib number on your front torso, so that it is clearly visible on the outside of your clothing.
Please ensure the following are in order to receive an accurate time:
-Race bib is clearly visible on the front of the torso
-Race bib is unaltered and unmodified (do not fold or wrinkle)
-Race bib is pinned in all four corners
-Race bib is not covered (jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.)
Terrapin 5k is a USATF-sanctioned event. You’ll see timing clocks at each mile marker along the course, as well as at the start and finish lines. Results will stream live online in real-time, so you and your fans can check your time right after crossing the finish line.

If you think the time we gave you is a little weird, let us know within two weeks through a correction request. Results become official after the 2-week mark.
The awards ceremony is tentatively scheduled for 10:30am. Only the top 3 overall male and female runners will be announced at the Post Race Party.
Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers, male and female, in each age group for each distance. Age groups are 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24 and every 5 years through 70+. All awards will be mailed within 6-8 weeks.
The official charity partner for Terrapin 5k is the Rex Foundation. In the fall of 1983, members of the Grateful Dead, with family and friends, established the Rex Foundation as a non-profit charitable organization, allowing the band to proactively support creative endeavors in the arts, sciences, and education. The Rex Foundation aims to help secure a healthy environment, promote individuality in the arts, provide support to critical and necessary social services, assist others less fortunate than ourselves, protect the rights of indigenous people and ensure their cultural survival, build a stronger community, and educate children and adults everywhere.

Terrapin 5k welcomes walkers that can keep up with the 15 minute per mile pace. That’s about four miles per hour, or a very brisk walk.
Terrapin 5k welcomes all ages to the race. Please note participants under the age of 12 needing to be accompanied by an adult at all times, even on course.
Yes—there are port-o-johns at the start/finish area and at the aid stations.
Not on course, but they’re welcome in spectating sections!
Sorry, no dogs are allowed on the course.
Feel free to ride to the event, but you’ll have to park it before you get to the course.
