Charity

The Chicago Blade Runners launched in 2007 as a dedicated group to help amputees get back into running.  Our group ranges from competitive athletes to recreational runners. We currently have 25+ amputees runners than compete in 5 5K’s every year around the Chicago area. It’s not about how fast we do the race, it’s about getting out there to the starting line and walking, running, hopping, crutching, rolling or crawling to the finish line! We set each runner up with a guide who will be with each runner throughout the race and our goal is to encourage amputees of all levels to experience the excitement of crossing the finish line. The group is filled with great people to motivate and push each other to have fun and achieve their goals.  We are always looking for more athletes and guides, so please look at our 2012 event calendar and contact us if you are interested! And keep an eye out for our tent at RAM’s Terrapin and Bucktown races this year!
